Energy is generated from a variety of types of energy. They are later converted into secondary forms like fuels and electricity, and then transmitted through various channels to supply electricity for our homes businesses, automobiles and lives. Energy sources can be classified as renewable or not.
Renewable (or clean energy) is energy that is generated from natural resources that are continuously replenished. Examples include solar power, wind power, water power and geothermal energy. Fossil Fuels (coal natural gas and oil) are not renewable since they form slower than the energy we use.
Solar energy can be utilized in large solar power plants, or on one roof. It can also be transformed into photovoltaic solar power, which generates electricity directly. Water can be harnessed for hydropower, or it can be used to generate wave and tidal energy. Geothermal power is derived by underground reservoirs that contain hot waters. Bioenergy can be obtained from technical-mechanic areas in the civil engineering field organic resources like woody plants, animal dung and human waste.
Renewable energy is not only green, but also less expensive than fossil fuels. Renewables are expensive and require large infrastructures to harvest and distribute the energy. This can lead to difficult trade-offs when it comes to environmental economic, social, and environmental factors. The advancement of these technologies is continuing to expand and they are making progress against the more conventional fuels. Renewable energy may be cheaper in the long run than coal and oil.
